What You Need to Know About the GREAT Scholarship 2022 at the University of Wolverhampton


As an initiative to encourage international students to pursue postgraduate courses in the UK, the British Council has launched the GREAT Scholarship in partnership with the universities in the UK.

The scholarship provides a fixed amount of financial aid to eligible candidates from any of these countries - India, China, Indonesia, Turkey, Malaysia or Thailand. Usually providing a complete or partial waiver of the tuition fees, this scholarship helps deserving students achieve their academic objectives while studying in the UK in a cost-effective way.

The University of Wolverhampton, one of the top-ranked universities in the UK, is also a participating university in the GREAT Scholarship initiative to promote and encourage overseas education in the UK.

Eligibility Criteria

The University of Wolverhampton offers partial tuition fee waivers to eligible candidates. The scholarship amount is fixed at £10,000 (for all subjects) for one-year master's programmes for Indonesian students.

Aspiring candidates for the GREAT Scholarship 2022 at the University of Wolverhampton need to fulfil the following criteria:

  1. They must be citizens of either Indonesia or Nepal and should have completed a UG degree in their home country.
  2. Be academically proficient to pursue a master's/postgraduate taught program in the UK and hold an unconditional offer to study a postgraduate taught course at the University of Wolverhampton before the close of applications.
  3. Must fulfil the English language requirement of the university with IELTS or an equivalent test.

Important Dates

Applications Opening: 15th September 2022

Applications Closing: 11:59 pm (GMT) on 9th December 2022

If you satisfy the above-mentioned requirements, and on being found eligible, you will be notified by 16th December 2022. Upon receiving the same, you need to accept their offer by 19th December 2022 in order to avail of the scholarship.

Selection Process 

You need to answer the following questions in the application form:

  1. How will the scholarship benefit you in the future and improve your career prospects?
  2. How would you be an excellent ambassador during and after your studies?

Ensure to answer both questions in 250 words each and submit the application before the specified deadline.

Applications will then be assessed by the Global Opportunities Office, faculty or External Engagement Directorate, and eligible candidates will then be shortlisted based on the strength of their application.
