Deakin University Scholarships for International Students

Deakin Vice-Chancellor's International Scholarship

Who can apply? Students commencing studies with academic accomplishments and the potential to make a leading contribution to the university and its communities.
Benefits
  • All of your tuition fees or 50% of your tuition fees depending on the course.
  • Participation in the Vice-Chancellor's Professional Excellence Program (VCPEP). Students will be required to participate in this program as part of the DVCIS scholarship.
  • Priority place for on-campus accommodation (at own cost and subject to availability).
Eligibility Criteria
  • Be a prospective international student eligible for a coursework degree at Deakin University.
  • Achieve an 85% average (or equivalent) in previous studies.
  • Ensure to submit your application at least one month prior to commencing your studies at Deakin.
Supporting documents
  • A completed Deakin International Scholarship Program application form.
  • A personal statement not exceeding 300 words, outlining why you want to study at Deakin University.
  • An overview of any extracurricular activities and work experience (paid or voluntary) you have undertaken.
  • Two references on your community engagement and/or leadership capacity.
  • A completed application to study at Deakin including academic transcripts.
You may also be required to attend an interview to confirm your eligibility.

Deakin STEM Scholarship

Who can apply? The Deakin Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Scholarship is a 20 percent scholarship for international students enrolling for bachelor's and master's course programmes within the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment.
Benefits
  • 20% of your student contributions (tuition fees) for the normal duration of the course.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Be a citizen of Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka or Vietnam.
  • Be a commencing student pursuing their course at Deakin anytime up until Trimester 3, 2026.
  • Meet the entry requirements for the course, including English language requirements.
  • Maintain a weighted average mark (WAM) of at least 65% during each previous year of study at Deakin AND have at least 8 credit points to complete in your course (only relevant if you are a student readmitting to Deakin).
  • Course entry requirement - 7.5 GPA
  • STEM Scholarship eligibility - 8.2 GPA
  • Note that you are not eligible if you're commencing a course on the FutureLearn platform.
How to apply?
  • All students applying for eligible courses will be automatically assessed for the scholarship and will be advised of the outcome. There is no need to complete a scholarship application form.

Warrnambool Campus International Bursary 

Who can apply? Students applying to Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Education (Primary), Bachelor of Environmental Science (Marine Biology), Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Midwifery or a Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Psychological Science at Deakin's Warrnambool Campus.
Benefits
  • 20% of your student contributions (tuition fees) for the normal duration of the course.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Be a prospective on-campus international student applying to study a Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Education (Primary), Bachelor of Marine Science, Bachelor of Nursing or a Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Midwifery at Deakin's Warrnambool Campus.
  • Satisfy the English language and academic requirements for entry to the selected course.
  • Not have accepted any other Deakin scholarship or bursary.
How to apply?
  • All prospective students who apply for eligible courses at Deakin’s Warrnambool Campus will be automatically assessed for the bursary and will be advised of the outcome. There is no need to complete a scholarship application form.
Note that the bursaries will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Royal Institute of Columbo (RIC) Cloud Partnership Bursary

Who can apply? The university in conjunction with RIC is offering graduates of the RIC/Deakin pathway program the opportunity to complete their units online with 50% of their course fees covered.
Benefits
  • 50% of the student's tuition fees along with local learning support.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Must complete the respective RIC pathway program.
  • Must apply for one of the following courses:
    1. S323 Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Major in Molecular Life Sciences)
    2. 398 Bachelor of Environmental Science (Environmental Management and Sustainability)
    3. S460 Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours)
    4. S461 Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Honours)
    5. S462 Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Honours)
    6. S463 Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering (Honours)
How to apply?
  • RIC students applying for any of the above courses will be automatically considered for this bursary and the same will be applied after the trimester census date.

Master of Business Administration Global Leaders Scholarship

Who can apply? Students pursuing Master of Business Administration or Master of Business Administration (Healthcare Management) can apply.
Benefits
  • 20% of fee reduction on the total course cost.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Be a prospective international student satisfying the necessary entry requirements for the selected course, including English language requirements.
  • Achieve a WAM of 65 or higher in previous studies.
  • To enrol in a Deakin MBA you need to have a:
  1. Bachelor degree in any discipline and three years' management/professional work experience or
  2. Master degree in any discipline and three years' management/professional work experience or
  3. Graduate certificate in a related discipline and five years' management/professional work experience or
  4. Deakin Business and Law Postgraduate Qualifying Program (PQP) and three years' management/professional work experience

  • All students applying for eligible courses will be automatically assessed for the scholarship and will be advised of the outcome.

Deakin Global Health Leaders Scholarships

Who can apply? Students pursuing Masters in Health Services, Health Promotion, Nutrition and Public Health can apply.
Benefits
  • This scholarship of 20% of the total indicative tuition fee stated on your offer letter is available for the normal duration of the course.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Be a prospective international student enrolling in any of the following courses:
  1. H757 Master of Public Health
  2. H756 Master of Health and Human Services Management
  3. H704 Master of Health Economics
  4. H759 Master of Health Promotion
  5. H748 Master of Nutrition and Population Health
  • Meet the English language and academic requirements for entry to their selected course.
  • Should not accept any other Deakin scholarship or bursary
  • Have an overall equivalent WAM of 65% in your Bachelor degree
  • How to apply?
    • All students applying for eligible courses will be automatically assessed for the scholarship and will be advised of the outcome.

    Deakin Warrnambool Residential International Scholarships

    Who can apply? Must be an international commencing student enrolled at the Deakin Warrnambool Campus (on-campus study) in 2023.
    Benefits
    • 50% of your accommodation costs with Deakin Residences Warrnambool (approximately $4000 per year) for the normal duration of your course.
    Eligibility Criteria
    • Be an international commencing student enrolled at the Deakin Warrnambool Campus (on-campus study) in 2023.
    • Study one of the following bachelor courses in Commerce, Education (Primary), Environmental Science (Marine Biology), Nursing/Midwifery,Psychological Science.
    • Live on-campus at Deakin Residences Warrnambool.
    • Have a duration of 2-4 years in the nominated course.
    • Must not have accepted any other Deakin scholarship or bursary.
    • Note that Honours degrees are not eligible for this scholarship.
    How to apply?
    • No application is required. This scholarship is automatically awarded based on the eligibility and selection criteria.
